FAST Entry Test Format – A Snapshot

National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (also known as FAST) entry test varies depending on the coursework you apply for. The university provides guidelines for the test format but has not announced a fixed test format. The use of calculators is not allowed.

The duration of the test can vary, but in most cases it is approximately two hours. The test consists of several multiple choice questions (MCQs). These questions are divided into multiple sections such as Mathematics, English, IQ, etc. Each Test has its own set of sections. Each section is assigned a specific time to attempt, number of questions and weight of questions in that section.

A section may also be specified to have the negative marking feature. So you should carefully read the instructions on whether a specific section has negative marking or not. This information is displayed in the table on the instructions page and also on every page of the test. The candidate has the option to leave the question un-answered to avoid receiving negative marks for a wrong answer.

Format for each of the coursework as given by the National University (FAST) is given below,

BSc Computer Sciences:

  • Advanced Mathematics – 50%
  • Basic Mathematics – 20%
  • IQ – 20%
  • English – 10%

BSc Engineering:

  • Advanced Mathematics – 40%
  • Basic Mathematics – 10%
  • Physics – 20%
  • IQ – 20%
  • English – 10%

What matter most is how you perform in the Fast Entry Test. We would suggest that you start preparation on MCQs when you start first year of FSc.

0.25 negative marks on each wrong answer. That means if you answered 4 questions wrong, then it means u have answered 5 questions wrong
