What is ISSB?

ISSB stands for The Inter Services Selection Board. It is the board for the selection of commissioned officers in the armed forces of Pakistan, the Army, Navy and Air Force. The tests are held in any one of the three centers, namely Kohat, Gujranwala and Malir, depending on the permanent address of the candidate.  A candidate can appear in ISSB only twice. Besides physical test and interviews, intelligence test constitute a major component of ISSB.  ISSB has verbal and non verbal intelligence test that is conducted on the first day, and candidate failing that are sent back home. ISSB is a five days long process that tests candidates fitness to join as officer in Pakistan army. It focuses on psychological screening to test the ability, aptitude and personality of a candidate. Official website for ISSB is https://www.issb.com.pk/

Candidates who pass the ISSB and medical test then undergo officer training at either Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, the Pakistan Naval Academy in Manora, or the Pakistan Air Force Academy in Risalpur, depending on the which armed force they applied for.
